When it comes to designing a kitchen, bathroom, or any space that requires cabinetry, the type of cabinet style you choose can make a significant impact on both the aesthetics and functionality of the space. At Arden Cabinet Manufacturing, we've dedicated ourselves to crafting custom cabinets that are both beautiful and practical. In this post, we'll explore three popular cabinet styles: Standard Overlay, Euro Style (Frameless), and Flush Inset. Each style has its own unique characteristics, advantages, and best-use scenarios.

Standard Overlay Cabinets

Overview

The Standard Overlay cabinet is one of the most common styles you'll encounter, especially in new construction homes and track housing. These cabinets are recognizable by their doors, which partially overlay the cabinet frame when closed.

Best Use Cases

- Ideal for budget-conscious projects.

- Common in traditional and transitional kitchen designs.

- Great for spaces where cabinetry needs to be functional without demanding intricate customization.

Application

If you're looking for a timeless design that fits seamlessly into a wide range of interiors, Standard Overlay is a reliable choice. It offers durability, versatility, and affordability.

Euro Style (Frameless) Cabinets

Overview

Euro Style, also known as Frameless cabinetry, originated in Europe during World War II when materials were scarce. These cabinets are characterized by their lack of a face frame, giving them a sleek, modern look.

Flush Inset Cabinet

Application

For those who value craftsmanship and timeless elegance, Flush Inset cabinets are the pinnacle of cabinet design. They offer a refined look that enhances the overall sophistication of a space.

Real-World Example

One of our recent projects involved creating Flush Inset cabinets for a historic home remodel in downtown Sacramento. The homeowners, inspired by the television show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, wanted cabinets that reflected the vintage charm of the era while integrating modern functionality.

This project was slightly tricky, all the doors and trim work was matched to the Homeowner’s original trim work, that he had hand built himself in the past.  It was such an amazing time working to bringing their vison to life. We had a Custom Cabinet Painter, who sprayed the Cabinets on site for a flawless and seamless finish.

The result was a beautifully crafted kitchen with intricate details, including custom glass doors and unique trim work inspired by the homeowner's woodworking background.

Choosing the Right Cabinet Style for Your Project

When deciding between Standard Overlay, Euro Style, or Flush Inset cabinets, consider the following factors:

-Aesthetic Preference: Do you prefer a traditional, modern, or vintage look?

-Functionality:  Are you prioritizing storage space or design precision?

-Budget: Each style varies in cost based on materials, craftsmanship, and customization.

At Arden Cabinet Manufacturing, our team is here to guide you through the decision-making process. Whether you're renovating a historic home, designing a sleek modern kitchen, or simply upgrading your cabinetry, we have the expertise and craftsmanship to bring your vision to life.
